August 15 is National Relaxation Day, so I'm sharing a simple mindfulness exercise you can do in less than 5 minutes to check in with yourself and align with calm.
"Relaxation is the state of being free from tension and worry."
Mindful Self-Awareness Exercise
Get comfortable and take a few slow rounds of breath. Ask yourself this question:
"What can I do right now to release tension or worry?"
Any answer that comes up is perfect - neck circles, walk the dog, journal, have a quick dance party. Anything that feels calming to you is the action that I want you to take.
Keep this inquiry on your monitor. Do this as many times as you need throughout the day.
As you continue checking in with yourself and supporting your relaxation throughout the day, you're building new pathways of calm within your body and mind. This helps to regulate your nervous system and rewire your stress response.
Share this with your team for them to try on their own. You can even use it to kick off your meetings!
All of my sessions and workshops focus on simple ways to integrate movement & mindfulness techniques into the work day for stress management and resilience - just like the tips above. If you want to invite me into your company for virtual wellness sessions or workshops, let me know. I'd love to support your team!
